New to the Club? Your questions answered
What ages do you cater for?
Boys and girls from Reception (our Rising Stars) right up to U18. Teams are organised by school year, so your child plays with others in the same year group. You can see every team and age group on Our Teams.
Does my child need to have played before?
No. Membership is open to everyone, whatever their ability or background. Our coaches focus on fun, development and making friends.
How do I join?
Fill in our online sign-up form. We will pass your details to the right team, or add your child to the waiting list if that team is full.
How do I get an FA Number (FAN)?
Every parent or guardian needs their own FA Number (FAN) so you can give consent for your child to play. If you don't already have one, create a free FA account at faevents.thefa.com and your FAN is created for you. Your team manager may ask you for it so they can link you to your child's registration.
How do I register my child with the FA?
All players must be registered with The FA through the club before they can play in league matches, and consent is renewed each season.
1. Make sure the club has your correct email address and your child's full name and date of birth (these must match exactly).
2. The club registers your child on the FA's Whole Game System and The FA emails you a consent request.
3. Click the link in the email and approve the request for your child to play for Launton Youth FC. If the email doesn't arrive, check your spam folder or approve it at players.thefa.com.
How much does it cost?
Our current fees are £190 a year for full match play, or £95 a year for training only. Fees are paid through Spond.
What is Spond?
Spond is the free app we use to run the club. Coaches use it to share training and match details, check who is available and send messages, and it is where you pay your fees. Once your child is registered you will receive an invitation to your team's group, so download the Spond app to accept it.
Download Spond: App Store (iPhone) | Google Play (Android)
When does the season run?
Our season starts in September and finishes in June.
When and where is training?
Each team trains once a week on a weekday evening. In the winter we train on a 3G (astroturf) pitch, and in the summer we train on grass. Days and times are listed on each team's page under Our Teams. We train and play at Launton Sports & Social Club and at our MOD (Bicester Garrison) site. See Pitches for addresses.
When are matches?
Boys U7s to U11s play on Saturday mornings, and boys U12s and above play on Sunday mornings. All girls' matches are on Saturday mornings. Your coach will share fixtures on Spond, and you can also check our Fixtures page.
How much will my child play?
From U7 to U11 we aim for equal playing time across the season. From U12 game time is at the manager's discretion, but no player is ever picked for a match and then given no game time. Read our Equal Playing Time policy.
What does my child need?
Football boots, shin pads, a drink and clothing suitable for the weather. Club training wear and kit are available from the Club Shop.
What do you expect from parents?
Please follow the FA Respect Code of Conduct: cheer on both teams, respect the referee and coaches, and stay behind the touchline. You can read the codes on our Safeguarding page. On match days, please follow our parking guidance.
Who looks after my child's welfare?
Our Welfare Officer is Dawn Nash. Any concern about a child's wellbeing can be emailed to welfare@launtonfc.co.uk and will be treated in confidence. More information is on our Safeguarding page.
Can I help out?
Yes please! The club is run by volunteers and we are always looking for coaches, helpers and committee members. Email committee@launtonfc.co.uk to find out more.
Still have a question?
Email the committee at committee@launtonfc.co.uk and we will get back to you.
